“Painting makes me happy, I do it to connect with myself and unleash creativity. I love to look at and feel the dots after completing any artwork.”

I am a Yawuru/Yamatji/Jabirr Jabbir woman and was born in Broome. While still a baby, we flew all the way to Perth where I lived until moving to Port Hedland in 2010. I've lived here ever since. I've always loved art ever since I could remember and I knew it was always something I wanted to do. My grandfather, Irwin Lewis(1939-2020), is a big inspiration to me. He was the artist in my dad's side of the family and I hope I can somewhat compare to him someday. I like painting animals from my home country but have never opposed being creative. I've always been a shy girl but ever since I started working here at Spini I've become more open and I really like who I'm becoming today. As time goes on, I hope to create more stories and that I flourish in both my art and myself.
